Serving Bloomington-Normal and Surrounding Central Illinois Communities

Evan Calvert
Funeral Director
(309) 828-2415

Evan is a fourth-generation Director. Educated at Carthage College and Worsham College of Mortuary Science, Evan is pleased to be working with his family and serving families throughout Central Illinois.  He lives in Bloomington with his wife, Lauren, and enjoys being a part of the community.  Evan chose to be a Funeral Director simply because he feels the need to serve families with the kindness, care, and compassion that only a family-operated funeral home can offer.  When not working, he enjoys golfing, fishing, and spending time with his wife, family, and his dog, Mooney.  His dream job would be to play on the PGA tour with his Dad as his caddy!

Ken Robertson
Funeral Director
(309) 827-2325

Ken is from Normal, Illinois and has worked as a funeral director for Calvert Funeral Homes since 2004. His passion for helping people and families in need is the driving force behind his career choice. The consummate family man, Ken and his wife have two children, two dogs (Mickey and Minnie), two parrots (Sophie and Sunny), two saltwater fish (Dora and Goldie), and a rabbit (George). Ken is an avid reader of books about Greek history and mythology and Egyptian history. Though his family activities keep him extremely busy, Ken still finds time to play golf and participate in rock climbing, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, and camping. If Ken weren’t working for Calvert Funeral Homes, he would apply his love for nature and outdoor activities to owning a horse farm in Kentucky.

Kevin Smith
Funeral Director
(309) 827-2325

Raised in Princeton, Illinois, Kevin has been a resident of McLean County since 1980. In 1992, he relocated to Bloomington, Illinois. He and his wife rescued a black lab mix puppy in 2012, named Shady Lady. Kevin is a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and is a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He enjoys helping families through one of the most difficult times of their lives and building relationships that become long lasting friendships.

Chris Leman
Funeral Director
(309) 827-2325

Chris Leman understands and appreciates the comforts of "home".  A graduate of Olympia High School who grew up in the small town of Danvers, Chris truly values the opportunity to "serve families and communities he has known his whole life".  Chris and his wife Shelley have seven daughters (Payton, Alexa, Reese, Caitlin, Riley, Morgan, and Kloe) and they treasure their family time and worship time at First Assembly in Normal.  A devoted Penn State Nittany Lions, St. Louis Cardinals, and Chicago Bears fan, Chris is also an avid hunter and golfer who previously owned and operated Pomme De Terre Golf Club in Morris, Minnesota.  Chris quickly concedes that he would be a golf teaching professional if he wasn't working in the funeral industry.  Chris' passion for assisting others in need is seen in everything that he does, and as Chris puts it, "making a difficult time for families as smooth as possible" is what drives and encourages him every day.  Chris' desire to come "home" was realized in 2014 when he joined the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home family.

Gary Jewett
Funeral Director
(309) 827-2325

A lifelong native of Bloomington-Normal and a 1988 graduate from Worsham Mortuary School of Science, Gary truly has an affinity for the communities that he grew up in and the families that he continues to serve in their time of need. Gary has two sons, Taylor and Jackson, and when he is not assisting families at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Gary can be found hunting, fishing, spending time in nature, watching sports, and faithfully following his beloved Chicago Bears.

Chad Sparks
Family Care Specialist/Public Relations Director
(309) 827-2325

Chad and his wife Cammie live in Bloomington, Illinois with their 2 children. As the ultimate sports fan, Chad loves to root for his favorite teams, including the Chicago Cubs, Fighting Illini, Indianapolis Colts and the Minnesota Timberwolves. If he wasn’t working at Calvert Funeral Homes, Chad’s dream job would be the general manager of the Chicago Cubs. Since 2007, Calvert Funeral Homes has given Chad the opportunity to represent a premier company and build a partnership with the community through marketing and public events. When not working, you can find Chad enjoying sports, movies, reading, traveling, and Bible study.

Lori Nelson
Family Care Specialist
(309) 827-2325

Lori Nelson is no stranger to small towns, especially when considering that she grew up in Union Hill, Illinois and attended nearby Reddick High School in Reddick, Illinois. Lori left those tiny towns and attended Illinois Wesleyan University, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis on advertising and graphic design. Even though Lori exited those small towns, she still has an affinity for them. In fact, Lori said this about the communities that she represents, “I love how the people are so genuine and sincere. The traditional values, coupled with the close, community connection, is still very special to me.” Lori is very close with family, especially her parents and step-son, Andy. Interestingly, her ancestral line includes one of our nation’s founding fathers – Alexander Hamilton. When Lori is not serving families in a pre-need and aftercare environment, she can be found with her Schnauzer (Jax) and enjoying her hobbies, which include politics, history, shopping, and travel. Lori’s passion for her profession and co-workers is evidenced every day, but if she were not serving individuals and families in need, she readily admits that she would love to travel the world and experience its rich culture and history.

Donna L. Schultz
Administrative Assistant
(309) 827-2325

Born and raised in Covell, Illinois, Donna and her husband Dave not only raised their son (Micah) and daughter (Micquel) there, but are still proud to call this community “home” as they continue to live there with their dog Diesel. Donna began working at Beck Memorial Home part-time in 2016 and eventually became a full-time employee less than two years later. A long time member of Covell Community Church and a Special Events Team member and organizer of many of the church’s functions, Donna applied her passion for helping others and event planning to her position at Beck Memorial Home. Donna loves paper crafting and stamping cards, as well as flower gardening; but her true love is spending time with her two grandchildren (Mason and Miah), crafts, and travel.
