Alberta Mae VanHook Obituary (1938 - 2021)

Alberta Mae VanHook age 82 of Bloomington IL passed away at 4:06 AM on Friday, November 5, 2021, at her residence. Her graveside service will 11:30 Monday, November 8, 2021 be at Scogin Hill Cemetery, Bloomington, IL. A memorial service will be 1:00 PM Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 1638 W. Hovey, Normal IL. Bishop Jason Heiner will be officiating. The family will receive friends after memorial service at the church. Alberta was born December 13, 1938 in Bloomington, IL, the daughter of Enoch E. and Dorothy E. (Bunn) Hall. She married Jack Van Hook. He precedes her in death. She was also preceded in death by a beloved friend David Quigley. Surviving are her children, Mark (Terri Freehill) Van Hook, Bloomington, IL, Julie (Woody) Morton, Bloomington, IL, Janice Van Hook, Evans, GA, Bryan (Brigette) Van Hook, Wells, Maine, Kent Van Hook, Bloomington IL, 5 grandchildren, Bryce (Danielle) Morton, Ryan (Lauren) Morton, Kamryn (Michael) Mattson, Bruce Van Hook, and Moxie Van Hook, 2 great-grandchildren, Knox Mattson and Jack Morton, and sister in-law Florence Schroader, Bloomington, IL. Alberta is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, son in-law, Steve Kowalski, and great-granddaughter Ava Mattson. Alberta was a member at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Normal, IL, where she taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the Relief Society of the church. She had worked for Singer Sewing Machine and Steak n' Shake as a bookkeeper. Alberta went on to own A&J Upholstery. She was also a talented seamstress. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
